Maa Durga

Durga Puja is one of the most important festivities in Hindu culture. It marks the relevance of how dedicated and religious we are to our culture and heritage. It also brings families and friends closer. This festival primarily celebrates the whole idea of Shaktism. Goddess Durga is worshipped in Navratri because it is believed that she killed a demon named Mahishasura after 9 days and nights of the war. Every pandal has a beautiful statue of the Goddess Durga, and the entire outpost is adorned.

Durga Puja is celebrated in India, such as West Bengal, Tripura, Assam, Bihar, Jharkhand, Orissa, Manipur, etc.

In Kolkata, the artisans begin decorating pandals at least before 20 days of the puja. The idol of the Goddess is also crafted within that stipulated time. In the following 9 days, the blessings of Goddess Durga are attained, and the person is likely to stay safe from damaging power and achieve prosperity in life. While immersion of the idol is done on the tenth day "DASHAMI" of the festival.

This festivity brings joy and happiness to our lives. We are jubilant at the fact that we have at most 15 days of holiday. "It's the damn season." The excitement in our hearts is visible through buying new clothing, new kicks, and accessories. Everyone wants to dress their best and feel like putting on a show and moving out in the streets with their friends and family to be their absolute best.

We, as children, bought guns and fire caps and felt like we had the power to command the world. We used to play chor police in our own paras and had the best time in our life. However, as adults, we have outgrown those fun moments with pandal hopping and driving and visiting new cafès, which is also very amusing and entertaining. With time everything changes, but the time spent with our loved ones would never vary, and all the memories are etched in us forever.
